Funding Chamber Initiatives: Getting the Most out of Your Foundation Funding
Building a healthy, economically strong, and safe community is at the base of every chamber mission. No matter what size chamber you manage, getting the funds you need to deliver the services your community expects is a daunting task. Creating a new a 501(c)3 foundation or maximizing the one you have could be the key to successfully balancing the needs of the community and building the program revenue needed for your chamber.
Whether you are just getting started, thinking about creating, or want to give your passive foundation a jump-start, this session will enhance your ability to make Foundations Work for Your Chamber!
American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) invites you to join Howard Benson, CEO of National Community Development Services, Inc. (NCDS), and Don Etheridge, foundation specialist with Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge & Rice, as they lead you through an interactive one-day regional seminar that takes you beyond the basics of administering a foundation. In this ACCE Seminar you will learn:
- Whether establishing a foundation would be beneficial to your chamber
- The legal dos and don’t s of managing a foundation
- Best practices from chambers that have successful foundations
- Skills needed to navigate and oversee more than two Boards of Directors
- How to build a connection between the mission of the foundation and the chamber strategic plan
- How to shape a successful program and create effective appeals that will garner significant funding
- Ways to make a foundation more active

Registration Fees
The cost of registration is for a full-day (9:00 am–4:00 pm) seminar and includes continental breakfast, networking lunch and course notebook. Participants will also earn 3 credits towards their CCE.
